We use Low energy light bulbs where possible and locally grown renewable source wood for our wood burners. We compost all of our kitchen vegetable waste & shred our garden waste. We encourage wildlife by use of planting, bird boxes & log piles & promote the use of local walks, bridle paths and cycle routes along with local accommodation providers, business & attractions. We try to raise environmental awareness in our customers & support local arts & crafts. We manage our energy consumption, water consumption, all waste and recycle where possible. We recycle our used cooking oil for use as bio-diesel, glass bottles, old glassware and containers, newspaper & Ink cartridges.
We back the Green Tourism Business Scheme www.green-business.co.uk which provides accreditation & encouragement for tourism business to reduce the environmental impact of their activities by encouraging sustainable practices to ensure continued enjoyment of the environment and we and were awarded the Silver GTBS award in 2008.
